Year 2/3 Classroom Teacher (Fixed-Term)

Term 2 – End of Year 2026

Maunu School is a vibrant kura dedicated to providing the highest quality learning experiences for our tamariki. We are seeking a passionate, energetic educator to join our team for a special project aimed at making a real difference in the foundational years of learning.

The Opportunity: Why is this role Fixed-Term?

This position is specifically tied to our Targeted Reduced Class Sizes in Year 2–3 Project.

At Maunu School, we recognise the critical importance of the early years. To maximize student growth, we are deliberately capping class sizes in our Year 2 and 3 cohorts. This creates a calm, focused environment designed for high-impact teaching where you can:

  • Accelerate Growth: Implement a highly targeted approach to core subjects with fewer students to manage.
  • Build Deep Connections: Foster strong, relationship-based links with ākonga and whānau.
  • Collaborate Effectively: Work closely within the Year 2 / 3 team (5 classes in total) to ensure every child succeeds.

Timeline: This fixed-term role begins Monday, 26th April 2026 and concludes on Monday, 14th December 2026.

Who We Are Looking For

Whether you are an experienced teacher or a beginning teacher looking for a supportive environment to start your career, we want to hear from you!

We are looking for someone who:

  • Focuses on Results: Is driven by a targeted approach to student achievement and personalised learning.
  • Is Culturally Responsive: Demonstrates a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the promotion of te reo Māori.
  • Is Collaborative: Enjoys working in a collegial team, implementing restorative practices and PB4L pedagogy.
  • Values Structure: Is excited about a structured approach to literacy and numeracy
  • Brings Energy: Has a sense of humor and a “can-do” attitude that makes the classroom an engaging place to be.

Why Join Maunu School?
