Syndicate Leader Position at Maunu School

We believe in the power of education to inspire growth and change, and we are seeking an exceptional individual to join our senior leadership team as a Syndicate Leader.

 

Position Overview:

As a Syndicate Leader at Maunu School, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our tamariki. We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced practitioner who can lead, inspire, and support our team while improving outcomes for our ākonga. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, be culturally responsive, and value relationships. This role comes with a permanent unit attached, including a 0.1 release.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Team Leadership: Be a well-organised team leader with a proven ability to lead change and inspire others through sound quality teaching pedagogy and practice.

 

Professional Growth: Mentor and support fellow staff members, helping them grow in their roles and contribute to the school’s success.

 

Cultural Responsiveness: Demonstrate a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, promote te reo Māori, and set high expectations for culturally responsive pedagogy.

 

Collaboration: Work collaboratively in a collegial team, advocating for students in the area of pastoral care, and implementing restorative practices and PB4L pedagogy.

 

Curriculum Development: Take responsibility for ongoing curriculum development, ensuring a community-responsive lens and a structured approach to literacy and numeracy.

 

Innovation: Embrace creativity and forward-thinking, showcasing your digital capability, and developing programs that meet the needs of all learners.

 

Sense of Fun: Bring energy and a sense of humour to our kura, making the learning environment enjoyable for both students and staff.

 

In 2024, the role will have a 0.4 classroom teaching component in a Year 5 & 6 (job share). The role will also include a specialist CRT release role, this will be negotiated with the successful candidate based on their strengths. This can be subject to change with increasing roll in future years.

 

Additional Opportunities:

For candidates with the necessary skill set, there are opportunities to apply for additional roles within Maunu School, such as leading digital technology or becoming a WiST for Cultural Responsive practices.

Maunu is a U5 contributing school set on the western outskirts of Whangarei City, in the beautiful suburb of Maunu.

We are seeking three experienced teachers, teaching between NE – Year 6, who have a strong understanding of PB4L to join our supportive and collaborative learning community. 

The successful applicants will have the proven ability to

  • model culturally responsive pedagogy
  • have a relationship-based teaching approach
  • have excellent classroom practice and a deep understanding of the NZ Curriculum and the curriculum refresh
  • an understanding of trauma informed practice
  • will bring an innovative approach to teaching and learning
