The school’s Matariki celebration was a most wondrous affair! A day full of culture, of fun, of celebration and of peace and understanding. I am sure that is a large part of the significance of Matariki, in any culture. I would like to thank all those from our fantastic community who supported this day. There were people helping with the performers, people in the kitchen, watching the hangi cookers, people serving food, people cleaning up afterwards and of course, people enjoying the day! Many thanks to you all; it certainly made a great celebration even more special. The celebration “concert” was an amazing cultural experience and the work and effort that went into the performances from all groups was outstanding. And again, our children were leaders on the day in so many ways. We can be proud of the children we have and their ability to take on new learning and step up to any task we ask them. Pai ki te katoa.
It was also great to have WGHS and Hikurangi School here to perform as part of the celebration.
Our Indian dance groups and the kapa haka were awesome.
